Absence from School

If your child is absent for sickness or medical appointments, we require a note, email or telephone call for register purposes. Our registers are monitored by the Education Welfare Service and by OFSTED.

Please let us know as soon as possible if your child is not coming to school for any reason. If we have not received a telephone call or message re your child’s absence by the end of registration, our office staff will telephone you at home or work to ascertain the reason for the absence.

Please come to the office when collecting or leaving a child during the school day.


The dates of school holidays are usually known about a year in advance and a calendar is sent to parents annually. Headteachers are not permitted to authorise absence in term time so children should not be taken out of school for holidays. In very exceptional circumstances, you may request leave of absence to be authorised and in this instance you should make an appointment to see the Headteacher to discuss this with them.
